Shalu Nartang trek can be started from Shigatse or Gyantse. We will drive to Shalu Monastery and traverses west over a couple of small ranges to Ngor Monastery. From Ngor it is a downhill slog to Nartang Monastery.The routes provide you experiences of several villages having uninhabited dry canyons. This trek cross two soft and dry passes having a name Showa-la and Char-la. The two passes en route, Showa-la and Char-la, are not particularly high or difficult and the trailheads are easily accessible. It is about a 10-hour walk to Ngor from Shalu, which is best divided into two days and this two or three-day walk is a good opportunity to get a feel for trekking in Tibet.  

 » Itenerary Details 9 days:

Day 1: Arrival Lhasa airport picking up, have a good rest in the afternoon. Overnight at Lhasa.

Day 2:  Lhasa Sightseeing in Lhasa, visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Market. Overnight at Lhasa.

Day 3: Lhasa Sightseeing in Lhasa, visit Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery. Overnight at Lhasa.

Day 4: Lhasa / Yamdrok-tso / Gyantse : Heading to Kambala pass which is 4794m high, you will have a glimpse of Yamdrok-tso there. It is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. Then drive back to chushul, along Nepal friendship way to Gyantse, visit the famous stupa - Gyantse Kumpum, the most stunning architectural wonder in Tibet. Overnight at Gyantse.

Day 5: Gyantse / Shalu Monastery / upper Lungsang, trekking 5-6 hours, 14km : Driving to Shalu Monastery from Gyantse, only 70km away. Visit Shalu Monastery. Then start trekking. Camping

Day 6: Upper Lungsang / Ngor Monastery, trekking 4 hours, 8km, camping

Day 7: Ngor Monastery to Nartang Monastery (3.5 hours), return to Shigatse

Day 8: Shigatse / Tashilhunpo Monastery/ Lhasa : Visiting Tashilunpo Monastery and the spectacular tombs of Panchen Lamas in Shigatse, afternoon drive back to Lhasa. Overnight at Lhasa.

Day 9: Fly from Lhasa to your next destination.
